ATTENTION BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPERS: Small Business Saturday Is Upon Us

Now that riots over toilet paper on Black Friday in the United States has hit the Drudge Report over the banner, it's time to remind all good Americans looking for the purrrr-fect gift for everyone on their list of the forgotten cog in the Christmas shopping season trilogy.  Sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is the day most people don't actually know about: SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY.

While the basic premise does indeed sound like a made up attention getter for the establishments and firms that belong to the Small Business Administration and your local Chamber of Commerce, the idea to spread the Christmas shopping wealth with the people who actually own small businesses is really quite sound.  Many of the people who own mom and pop stores fabricate hand made products.  Yes, they cost a little more, but usually are of higher quality than comparable items at big box stores.  Not only that, rather than pay for shipping, packaging, and a whole lot of other overhead, the profits go straight to other Americans.

As an artist of music, words, and yarn, this writer will assert that your purchases at a small business featuring hand crafted items is most appreciated.  This is the lifeblood of the American entrepreneurial spirit.  Now with Donald Trump pledging to Make America Great Again, it isn't just manufacturing that needs a lift, but the small business on main street as well.

Consider patronizing small business not just on Small Business Saturday, but all year long as a matter of being a patriot.  It really will be money well spent.
