Yes, it's the day after. The day after Donald Trump dispatched Hillary Clinton from the national political scene, at least for now. It's the day after much of America experienced shock and awe. Shock that so many people voted AGAINST the Hildebeast, and awe that the witch would not be crowned empress any time soon.
Too effing bad.
Just about all of us who saw through the faux lady never quite understood what so many of our supposedly "smart" friends and relatives saw in her. On this writer's Facebook alone, one lawyer, several people with advanced degrees, and people who live in some pretty expensive suburbs were crying in their overpriced coffee wondering what meaning was left in the world. They were seriously voting with their uteruses. (Sorry, can't bring myself to do that.)
And they called the people who voted for Trump - the deplorables - racist, homophobic, religious bigots.
Well, now that's interesting considering the number of these people, mostly women, by the way, who want religion on THEIR terms if at all, who reside in neighborhoods with good school districts. As we all know, those places tend not to be populated by minorities. These people also are all for regulation so long as it doesn't effect them, and have no clue what it means to try to make a living in an industry that's so heavily regulated it is not profitable.
THAT, just as much as illegal immigration and a health care system that came very close to being destroyed and protests against a confiscation level tax scheme, was what we deplorables saw in Trump. His message resonated. It was not racist, not classist, not about anything other than righting the ship that is America.
One cousin on Facebook is taking time off to digest the loss, and let the emotions settle. Another intends to make extensive use of her black wardrobe. Me? I want an answer to this question:
How about it, all the ladies out there who were shattered to know that the first woman president was not elected last night? Why is this achievement any less?
Get back to me when you figure it out.
